ZigBee Hotel Room Management: Thermostats, AC Control and Sensors
Short answer: A ZigBee hotel room can combine a fan-coil thermostat (PCT504), an air conditioner controller (AC201-A, AC211 or AC221), door / window and occupancy sensors, and a gateway such as the SEG-X5. The table below shows the role of each OWON device. It is an example set of device roles, not a validated design.
Which devices do what?
| Function | OWON device | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Room temperature control | PCT504 | ZigBee fan-coil thermostat for two-pipe and four-pipe systems |
| Split air conditioner control | AC201-A, AC211, AC221 | Convert ZigBee commands to infrared for split air conditioners |
| Door and window status | DWS332 | Detects whether a door or window is open or closed |
| Presence | OPS305 | Radar presence detection, including people who stay still |
| Motion, climate and light | PIR313 | Motion, temperature, humidity and illuminance |
| Switched socket | WSP406EU | In-wall socket with on / off control and energy monitoring |
| Gateway | SEG-X5 | ZigBee coordinator with Ethernet and open APIs |
Planning notes
- The SEG-X5 datasheet states up to 200 endpoints with at least 24 ZigBee repeaters, and up to 32 end devices without repeaters. Mains-powered ZigBee devices can act as repeaters.
- Gateway Server API and Gateway API let a property management or energy system connect to the devices through its own cloud server.
- Confirm device counts and compatibility with your system integrator before a rollout.
