Which OWON smart energy meters can monitor solar production?

The datasheets of the OWON PC4713, PC473, PC321, PC341, PC311 and PC472 smart energy meters all list bidirectional measurement of energy usage and solar production.

Can OWON smart energy meters work without a cloud?

The OWON PC4713 Open Series (PC4713-W-485 and PC4713-W) can report data directly to your own cloud server or be read locally through HTTP, MQTT, Modbus TCP or RS485 Modbus RTU, without going through a third-party public cloud.

Which OWON thermostats work with North American 24 VAC systems?

Smart Energy Meters

What is the difference between a smart energy meter and a utility meter?

A utility meter is installed by the energy provider and used for billing. A smart energy meter installed downstream, on your own distribution board, monitors your own consumption and is usually not a replacement for the utility meter.

Can I monitor solar generation with a smart energy meter?

In many cases yes. A meter with the right wiring and bidirectional measurement can track import, export and generation, but check the supported measurement modes in the model's datasheet.

Smart Thermostats

Do smart thermostats need a C-wire?

Some models need a common wire (C-wire) to power the thermostat, while others can run without one. Check the datasheet and your system wiring before buying.

Can one thermostat work in both Europe and North America?

Usually not. North American 24 V AC systems and European boiler or relay-based systems use different control interfaces, so choose a model designed for your region's equipment.

Zigbee Devices

What is the difference between Zigbee and Zigbee 3.0?

Zigbee 3.0 brings earlier Zigbee application profiles together into one standard so that devices from different manufacturers can join the same network more easily. Check each device's documentation for the supported clusters and features.

Do Zigbee devices work without internet?

A Zigbee network can run locally through its coordinator. Whether features such as remote access work without internet depends on the gateway and platform you use.
