PC4713 Open API: HTTP, MQTT, Modbus TCP and RS485 Modbus RTU
What does the Open Series offer?
- Open API with Wi-Fi (HTTP / MQTT / Modbus TCP) and RS485 (Modbus RTU, PC4713-W-485).
- Data refresh of 50 ms and a maximum response time of 50 ms on Modbus RTU; report time can be set in the integration.
- Offline storage with minute-level data, reported after the network reconnects.
- Remote reboot, CT setting, data erasure, phase sequence error alarm and OTA functions.
- Home Assistant (HA platform) integration.
How do I configure the meter over Wi-Fi?
- Wire the meter and power it on. A slowly blinking Net LED means AP mode.
- On your phone, connect to the meter's hotspot, named Meter_ followed by the last six digits of the serial number.
- Open 192.168.4.1 or owon.local in a web browser (the guide recommends the latest Google Chrome) and sign in with the password given in the quick start guide.
- The dashboard shows voltage, current, frequency, power factor, active, reactive and apparent power. The menu has settings for Wi-Fi, MQTT, HTTP and Modbus.
- To join your router, choose STA mode in the Wi-Fi settings, enter the router's SSID and password, and use DHCP or a static IP address.
What do the LEDs mean?
| LED | State | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Net | On | MQTT disabled and connected to the router, or MQTT enabled and connected to the server |
| Net | Slow blink | AP mode, waiting for configuration |
| Net | Medium blink | STA mode, but failed to connect to the router |
| Net | Fast blink | MQTT enabled and connected to the router, but failed to connect to the server |
| 485 (PC4713-W-485) | On | Currently communicating via RS485 |
What if owon.local does not open?
The owon.local address relies on mDNS. Check that your phone or computer is on the same local network as the meter, that the router does not use client or VLAN isolation, that your operating system and browser support mDNS, and that a firewall is not blocking local network access. If it still fails, find the meter's IP address on the router and open it directly.
Where are the protocol documents?
Protocol documents for HTTP, MQTT, Modbus TCP and Modbus RTU are provided by OWON sales on request. Use the contact page to ask.
