PC4713 Open Series vs Tuya Series: Which Smart Energy Meter Should You Choose?

Short answer: Choose the PC4713 Open Series when you want to read data locally or send it to your own cloud server over HTTP, MQTT or Modbus without an app. Choose the Tuya Series when you want Smart Life app monitoring, optional Ethernet and an optional relay output. According to the OWON quick start guides, the metering core, measurement accuracy, housing and power supply are the same across the variants.

Which PC4713 version should I choose?

What do both series have in common?

Both series are DIN rail clamp-on meters that use three current transformers and are compatible with three-phase four-wire, split-phase and single-phase systems. They measure voltage, current, power factor, frequency, active, reactive and apparent power, support bidirectional measurement of energy usage and solar production, store data offline and report it after the network reconnects, and provide data erasure, remote reboot, CT setting and phase sequence error alarm functions. The housing is 19 × 69 × 90 mm and the operating range is -20 to +55 °C.

Does the PC4713 support three-phase three-wire (delta) systems?

The OWON Open Series documents and the PC4713-W-E-TY/R datasheet state that 3-phase 3-wire and delta systems are not supported. The PC4713-W-E-TY/3W datasheet states that 3-phase 3-wire, delta and Y connections are supported. Check the exact model before you design a three-wire installation.
